What is Your Sentence for the New Year?

The other day I thought aloud on Twitter of what my sentence or words for the new year would be.  After some time I realized my sentence would be "Slow down."  Slow down to me means relax, say no to projects, cherish my time, and enjoy the moment.  Slow down to appreciate.  Slow down to enjoy.  Slow down with the expectations.  2011 was an incredible year for me as an educator but a very tough year for us personally, so this year, as I work on one of the biggest projects yet, I will be slowing down.  And I will cherish it.

What will your mantra for the year be?

What a great sentence for the year, Pernille! Mine is going to be "Savor the moment." I had my best professional year as a library media specialist during the 2010-11 school year, but I know that I put some things on the back burner as far as family goes to do accomplish some of those things professionally and I need to go back and put family first. Our oldest is now 5 and started 4K in September and I can hardly believe that! So, I have chosen to savor the moment, especially those with my family, as time goes by all too fast!

I was thankful when I stumbled across the idea of picking a word instead of making a resolution I'll never keep. Unless of course I picked, "Eat Chocolate" or "Kinda keep the house clean," but they sorta defeat the purpose of a resolution, eh?

Anyway, my word for 2011 was opportunity, and my word for 2012 is grow. It's amazing how mindful I became of my word, and I'm really looking forward to seeing how I grow in the new year. :)

Good luck with slowing down!

Funny, slow down was my mantra for this past year and as one would assume, easier said than done. What worked was walking to more destinations, more music in my life and a 'spa evening' once a month.

Great Idea! My sentence for 2012: Stay Calm and Carry On! Really looking forward to a year of meaningful learning.
